Assessment
Help teachers use assessment as a tool for learning, not simply a way to measure learning. Professional learning focuses on designing meaningful assessments, gathering useful evidence, and using that information to move student learning forward.
The work may include:
Assessment design — creating assessments that align with learning goals and provide meaningful evidence of learning
Rubrics — developing and using clear criteria to communicate expectations and evaluate student work
Assessment for learning — using assessment throughout the learning process to identify needs and adjust instruction
Effective feedback — providing timely, specific, and actionable feedback that helps students understand their progress and improve their performance
Using evidence — interpreting student work and assessment results to inform instructional decisions and next steps
The goal is to help teachers move beyond “How did the student do?” to “What does the evidence tell us, and what can we do next to help the student improve?”
