Instructional Coaching

Instructional coaching provides teachers with individualized support as they apply professional learning to their own classrooms. Coaching is a collaborative process focused on growth, reflection, and practical next steps.

Coaching may include:

  • Coaching cycles — Setting a focus, trying a strategy, gathering evidence, reflecting, and determining next steps.

  • Classroom observations — Focusing on agreed-upon aspects of teaching and learning to gather useful evidence.

  • Feedback — Providing specific, constructive feedback that supports reflection and growth.

  • Goal setting — Identifying meaningful, achievable goals connected to classroom practice and student learning.

  • Co-planning — Working together to plan lessons, units, or instructional approaches.

  • Reflection — Examining what happened, what was learned, and what might be adjusted or refined.

The goal is not to tell teachers what to do, but to work alongside them as they develop, apply, and refine their practice.
