Labsites & Demonstration Classrooms
Make instructional practices visible by creating opportunities for teachers to see practice in action, ask questions, and learn together. A labsite or demonstration classroom can provide a bridge between professional learning and the realities of the classroom.
The experience may include:
Classroom demonstrations — Observing instructional practices in action with real students and authentic learning goals.
Observation — Using a focused observation protocol to notice specific teaching and learning practices.
Debrief — Discussing what was observed, why particular choices were made, and what students experienced.
Collaborative reflection — Connecting observations to teachers' own classrooms and considering what might transfer to their practice.
Trying it out — Collaborating to deliver a lesson or learning experience with a specific instructional focus and getting supportive feedback.
Action planning — Identifying a specific practice or next step to continue doing in the classroom.
The goal is to move from seeing a practice to understanding it, trying it, and making it your own.
